The end of tulip season in Trevelin has become a springtime icon in Patagonia. This year, for the third consecutive time, the town celebrated with a rain of tulip petals that thrilled attendees. The event featured live music, a hot air balloon lighting up the sky, the famous fire-breathing dragon, and thousands of people filling the central plaza to enjoy this unique experience.
Juan Carlos Ledesma, the owner of the tulip field, and Juan Manuel Peralta, Trevelin’s Secretary of Tourism, described the 2024 season as a “record.” The number of visitors and the impact of events like “Trevelin Fashion Week,” covered by national media such as C5N and Canal 9, exceeded all expectations, as did the presence of prominent influencers like “La Chica del Brunch.”
The petal rain idea originated in 2022 thanks to Ezequiel Parodi from Patagonia Bush Pilots, who proposed it to Tulipanes Patagonia and the local Tourism Department. What began as a bold idea has now become a tradition, drawing tourists from across the country.
Trevelin’s Mayor, HĂ©ctor Ingram, celebrated the season’s success and the positive impact on the region. The tulip attraction not only extends the tourist season but also boosts the local economy, benefiting Trevelin, neighboring Esquel, the Andean region near Parallel 42, and even RĂo Negro province.
Trevelin is committed to sustainable tourism with a unique identity, where private businesses and the municipality work together to showcase the area’s resources. In addition to offering an unmatched experience, the tulip event opens doors to new opportunities in tourism and commerce.
The Municipality of Trevelin and its surrounding areas thank the Volunteer Firefighters Association and Trevelin’s Police District for their assistance with event security, demonstrating the entire community’s dedication to making Trevelin an increasingly attractive destination.
