Trevelin Flourishes to the Rhythm of Tulips

Share

October brings colors and life to Trevelin, marking the start of a new tulip season that promises to be unforgettable. In the valley, over 2,300,000 tulips in 30 different shades bloom against the backdrop of the magnificent Andes mountains, creating a stunning visual display that draws thousands of visitors every year.

This Monday, the official opening of the 2024 season took place at Tulipanes Patagonia. Local, provincial authorities and business leaders emphasized the importance of this event for the region. The event was led by Trevelin’s Mayor Héctor Ingram, alongside Tulipanes Patagonia owner Juan Carlos Ledesma and Chubut’s Minister of Tourism Diego Lapenna, with the presence of councilors, municipal executives, and regional tourism providers.

A Growing Economic and Tourism Boost

The speeches highlighted the economic and tourism impact generated by the tulip fields. Mayor Ingram praised the hard work behind the project, emphasizing how the joint efforts between the public and private sectors bolster Trevelin’s standing as a top destination.

Juan Manuel Peralta, Secretary of Tourism of Trevelin, stressed the “multiplier effect” of the tulip season, noting that increased tourism translates into more opportunities for local businesses and other industries. He also highlighted how events like this not only showcase the region’s natural beauty but also position it as a provincial tourism hub.

Tributes and a Glimpse into the Future

The event also paid tribute to key figures in Trevelin’s tourism development, such as Alberto Williams and Mervyn Evans, pioneers of rural tourism promotion. Additionally, past and current municipal and provincial authorities were recognized for their work in establishing Trevelin as a tourist attraction.

2024 Season Highlights

This year comes with a special surprise: hot air balloon rides. During the launch, a demonstration was held with local journalists, who experienced a unique journey from above. This was complemented by a flyover from a Patagonia Bush Pilots airplane, offering a breathtaking view of Trevelin, the “Mill Town.”

Trevelin not only blooms with its tulips, but also with a vision that blends tradition, nature, and modernity, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a new life in a place that combines beauty and opportunity.
